Soul on Soul Review (AUDIO Magazine)

Paloma, Soul on Soul - The Audiophile Society

Paloma, whose full name is Paloma Dineli Chesky, is a child prodigy. The young lady is only 14 years old, but "Soul On Soul" is already her second album (the debut "Thirteen" was released in 2021). You can't hear her tender age in the slightest from her enormous, slightly rough, original soul voice, which has an enormous range. Here Paloma interprets standards like "Something's Got A Hold On Me", "I Heard It Through The Grapevine" or "Nobody's Fault But Mine". She does it extremely competently, and in view of her youth you can still expect a great deal of development from her. Wow! This album sounds extraordinarily good, which is no surprise given her father is renowned audiophile pioneer David Chesky. The legendary audiophile from New York, himself a musician, recently founded The Audiophile Society, a label that relies on high-resolution files - with success. -Sebastian Schmidt, AUDIO Magazine

Bright Light Review - JazzWax.com

David Chesky

Mark Sherman—Bright Light (Audiophile Society). Mark Sherman is a superb pianist, vibraphonist and educator. On Bright Light, he teams up with trumpeter and flugelhornist Joe Magnarelli, bassist Dean Johnson and drummer Tim Horner. Mark's seven originals are exquisite, as are the other three, including the standard Cry Me a River. Mark swings with taste and grace, and with Mags on horn, it's a perfect, lyrical combination. Mark is one of those pianists I could listen to all day. Mags, too. Plus Johnson and Horner are terrific drivers and time-keepers, not to mention elegant soloists. This quartet is one tight, pretty package.
